About the Site Designer: Shelly Durrell
It's only fair that you know a little bit about me and my background. Like you, I have had my share of ups and downs in my life, but through it all, I've ended up living a Great Life. I am one of those people who said "Someday I will write a book," and I did (Healing the Fisher King: Spiritual Lessons with Parzival, Gump, the Grail, and Star Wars). The book won five awards. I became a Kung Fu teacher (Sifu) in the Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis System and also a teacher of Tai Chi and other Internal Martial Arts, teaching for over 24 years. I've organized shows, demonstrations, and seminars, allowing me to travel the world for these promotions. I've done rim-to-rim hikes of the Grand Canyon. A few years ago I moved to Vegas, allowing me to trek to Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon a few times of the year. I continue to learn, grow, and seek out new adventures, which is my definition of a Great Life. I hope my website will help you enjoy your life and find your personal adventures.

When you have a great and difficult task, something perhaps almost impossible, if you only work a little at a time, every day a little, suddenly the work will finish itself.

— Isak Dinesen —

When you get to this point of your project, it means you did exactly what Isak Dinesen refers to. You took your project, broke it down to stages, then to tasks, then worked on those tasks until you finished it. The Stage Task List is a motivator in itself, as it feels good to watch a sheet get filled in, then move on to the next sheet. Why, they almost finish themselves!

This is a time of congratulations. You should take a mini-break between stages of your projects, and during that time, fill out the Stage & Project Evaluation List. You will also do a sheet for the end of a project. This may be a springboard for the next project you will choose to work on. You can review the worksheet notes presented on the Applying the STARS System page. This example will be for completing the Research Stage of our fictitious Shelly Dee Pastry Chef Project. You can print out either a blank Stage & Project Evaluation List or the Stage & Project Evaluation List Example by clicking on one of the appropriate options. These require an Adobe Acrobat Reader which has a link on the Third Party Downloads panel at the left.

Design Overview Sheet Steps

  1. Project:This would be your project name and the stage name. Our example: Pastry Chef/Research
  2. Page ID: Continue on with whatever Page Id system you have developed. I chose PC for Pastry Chef, R for Research, and E for Evaluation List.
  3. Date: Date you prepared the sheet.
  4. Prepared By: You would put your initials or name as on the other sheets.
  5. project, page, date, and prepared by info
  6. Spirit: Write a note about your overall Spirit during this stage and how it is now.
    spirit evaluation
  7. Time: Did you meet your original time goal? Have you learned anything about your time management to help you with future stages or projects? Write anything about Time that would be appropriate.
    time evaluation
  8. Action: Did you meet your Objective in terms of your actions? How efficiently did you work? Would you change anything in your work flow for the future?
    time evaluation
  9. Resources: Did you use your Resources wisely? What more can you do going into the future?
    resources box
  10. Space: Think of how Space has affected your project. Can you make it better as you continue your work?
    notes box
  11. Notes: Write whatever else you think you need to note. It's not a bad idea of putting in something that links to future stages of your project or other areas of your life.

You should now have a fairly good grasp of the STARS System, which is to be applied to Designing and Organizing Your Great Life.
