About the Site Designer: Shelly Durrell
It's only fair that you know a little bit about me and my background. Like you, I have had my share of ups and downs in my life, but through it all, I've ended up living a Great Life. I am one of those people who said "Someday I will write a book," and I did (Healing the Fisher King: Spiritual Lessons with Parzival, Gump, the Grail, and Star Wars). The book won five awards. I became a Kung Fu teacher (Sifu) in the Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis System and also a teacher of Tai Chi and other Internal Martial Arts, teaching for over 24 years. I've organized shows, demonstrations, and seminars, allowing me to travel the world for these promotions. I've done rim-to-rim hikes of the Grand Canyon. A few years ago I moved to Vegas, allowing me to trek to Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon a few times of the year. I continue to learn, grow, and seek out new adventures, which is my definition of a Great Life. I hope my website will help you enjoy your life and find your personal adventures.

An Adventure a Month

To dare is to lose one’s footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself.

— Søren Kierkegaard —

Routines in our life enable us to maintain a standard of competence and living. But to discover purpose and enlarge our lives, we must reach out to the new — and more times than a yearly vacation. Adventure is not just trying the grand scale adventures like scaling Everest or exploring New Guinea jungles. It is experiencing the new which is around us everyday.

Make a point to have an Adventure a Month. It could be just a few hours walking or hiking in a local park, to a weekend getaway at a lake four hours from your home. It may be signing up for a photography class at the local college, to attending a reading at the local bookstore. It could be attending a sporting event that you had never been to before or attending a Native American pow wow. You can canoe a river or bike a trail. Attend a Greek festival or play a poker tournament. You can visit an Impressionist collection at an art museum or attend a music concert. Think of something you know nothing about and learn about it.

Make a list of potential adventures you can do over the year, then schedule one a month. Commit to your growth, just as you would commit to any other appointment in your life. Open yourself up to the Adventure and allow it to teach you about the world and yourself.
