About the Site Designer: Shelly Durrell
It's only fair that you know a little bit about me and my background. Like you, I have had my share of ups and downs in my life, but through it all, I've ended up living a Great Life. I am one of those people who said "Someday I will write a book," and I did (Healing the Fisher King: Spiritual Lessons with Parzival, Gump, the Grail, and Star Wars). The book won five awards. I became a Kung Fu teacher (Sifu) in the Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis System and also a teacher of Tai Chi and other Internal Martial Arts, teaching for over 24 years. I've organized shows, demonstrations, and seminars, allowing me to travel the world for these promotions. I've done rim-to-rim hikes of the Grand Canyon. A few years ago I moved to Vegas, allowing me to trek to Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon a few times of the year. I continue to learn, grow, and seek out new adventures, which is my definition of a Great Life. I hope my website will help you enjoy your life and find your personal adventures.

Details create the big picture.

— Sanford I. Weill —

Throughout your Designing Your Great Life process, you will be moving back and forth between Detail and the Big Picture. When you worked your Where You Are and Where You Want to Be exercises, you were looking at Detail. Now you are going to review your exercises to start working on your Design Overview Process to work on the Big Picture.

You will be using the Design Overview Sheet This file requires Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can get from the Third Party Downloads panel at your left. which is covered in the Applying the Stars System section of Phase I: Beginning. You should read this section before starting this process. After completing the exercise, you can insert it into the Current section of your DYGL Binder.

Design Overview Process

  1. Look over your Where You Are and Where You Want to Be exercises. You will pick one, several, or all of the areas of your life to work on. For example, you may know that you need to work on your health and your surroundings, so pull out the worksheets from the I Want to be Healthy and Improving My Surroundings exercises. Choose what is most important to you right now.
  2. Print out two Design Overview Sheets This file requires Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can get from the Third Party Downloads panel at your left. for each life area you are designing. If you plan on filling in the form on your computer, go ahead and save separate files from the master sheet.
  3. Pick one of the areas to work on first. Prepare a Design Overview Sheet for the My Ultimate Fantasy section (section I) of the appropriate Where You Want to Be exercise. You may wonder why I say to develop a design for a fantasy. This is to free up your creativity and mind so you will think of possibilities when you move on to the Reality Section. It also gives you a framework of how to approach new subjects and areas when you are embarking on new adventures and projects.
  4. Now, prepare a Design Overview Sheet for the My Closer to Reality Dream section (section II) of the same Where You Want to Be exercise.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each of the life areas you have chosen.

After completing this process, you are ready to move on to My Behaviors and Favorites.
