About the Site Designer: Shelly Durrell
It's only fair that you know a little bit about me and my background. Like you, I have had my share of ups and downs in my life, but through it all, I've ended up living a Great Life. I am one of those people who said "Someday I will write a book," and I did (Healing the Fisher King: Spiritual Lessons with Parzival, Gump, the Grail, and Star Wars). The book won five awards. I became a Kung Fu teacher (Sifu) in the Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis System and also a teacher of Tai Chi and other Internal Martial Arts, teaching for over 24 years. I've organized shows, demonstrations, and seminars, allowing me to travel the world for these promotions. I've done rim-to-rim hikes of the Grand Canyon. A few years ago I moved to Vegas, allowing me to trek to Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon a few times of the year. I continue to learn, grow, and seek out new adventures, which is my definition of a Great Life. I hope my website will help you enjoy your life and find your personal adventures.

The sorcery and charm of imagination, and the power it gives to the individual to transform his world into a new world of order and delight, makes it one of the most treasured of all human capacities.

— Frank Barron—

This is the time to let go of all doubts and negative thoughts. You get to dream and dream big. But within all of that dreaming, you will also be Setting the Stage for moving those dreams into reality. Each of the major areas that you will be addressing will have five major parts to work on as listed below. And if you want to add a sixth (or more) — go right ahead. These exercises take a bit of time to do properly. One approach you might want to take is to pick an area and think about it as you go about your daily life, then sit down later to write about it.

No matter what: Be creative. Be uninhibited. Be daring. It's the only way to live a Great Life.

Where You Want to Be Exercise Sections

  1. My Ultimate Fantasy.
Go ahead and think of the ultimate. This is for fun and will get your creative juices flowing. If you want to live in a French castle, write that down. (Don't laugh, I have met people who did buy an old French chateau to retire to.)
  2. My Closer to Reality Dream.
You may have several stages in this dream. Instead of a French chateau, you'll be happy for a larger home with a yard, and have it decorated in French provincial furniture. You may even have another preliminary stage of decorating your current apartment with the furniture you'd eventually move into your future home.
  3. What Part of My Dream Do I Have Now and How Did I Achieve It?
Write down what part of your dream you currently have now. Make notes of what it took to get those parts of your dreams so you can carry that experience forward to the future.
  4. Why Haven't I Achieved More of My Dream to Date?
Ask yourself why you haven't achieved more of your dream and make a quick list of the reasons. Don't be judgmental. This is to work on your future, not to beat you up about your past. An obvious reason for many things may be money, so try to look behind that. Is it because you spent money on frivolous things, had to support somebody, or never made enough money to begin with. Or was the problem education? Or how you treated people? Again, don't be judgmental, but be honest.
  5. Design Brainstorming.
Get out those colored pens, scrapbooks, graph paper, and/or sketchbooks. Draw diagrams, rooms, cars you envision in your future. Cut out pictures, quotes, and clothes you like. You can also do this on the computer using word processing programs, drawing programs or note taking programs. Give some life to those dreams.
With that overview, you are now ready to get started with the Where You Want To Be exercises.
